Hi,

I have recieved two cold calls on my TPS registered BT line this afternoon,
both callers sounded Indian and were trying to sell electrcity contracts,
when challaged as to what compnany they worked for I was told they represent
all electricty companies. The CLI displayed was 01212-4614418. At first I
thought it was a Birmingham number but it would be two long for that, anyone
had cold calls from this outfit?

John.

Go to the TPS complaints webpage and put in a report

Most times when I tell a cold caller they have dialled a line reg with the
TPS,
and they have committed an offence that could cost them thousands in fines,
they usually remove you from their lists

I find they either claim that it is not a marketing call or claim that
all their calls have been checked by the TPS. I always put in a
complaint to the TPS but the saying about chocolate teapots always
come to mind when I think of TPS / OFCOM / OIC in relation to junk
telephone calls.

Any known junk callers now get marked as junk callers so I know not to
answer the phone and any unknown numbers go to the answer machine for
screening.

It doesnt apply if the call is made from outside the UK. That is why some
companies transferred their sales operations abroad. All you have to do is
say no to things you dont want. What always amuses me is why people even
bother to answer the phone when it displays an unknown number. Worse still
are the idiots who will call back a premium rate number!

It does apply if theyre calling on behalf of a UK company. The trick is to
get the name of said company before the rep hangs up.

Apart from Kitchens f***ing direct and the shower they use to sell
their tat. They just dont seem to give a sh*t. Had six calls in the
last week from them. Mind you, they get a bit upset when you tell them
their address and let them know youre only quarter of a mile away.
