Ive just tried to do this on-line with zero success!

If I go to the usual BT account management page, it recognises me as a
customer - but none of the Calling Plan upgrade options presented is the one
I want.

If I go to www.bt.com/callingplans, I can find the right option but it then
asks for my phone number and *postcode* (rather than BT account #) - and
when I fill those in it says it doesnt recognise me!

Anyone else had this problem? Or any clues as to what Im doing wrong?

Got exactly the same problem :-(

Call the number given 0800 707 6028. Did that - no problems.

I had a similar problem today. I spoke to BT and they dealt with the order
over the phone. 0800800150

Possibly but then I noticed a newspaper advert. I think the number is 0800
100 400. Trouble free upgrade from own phone without having to speak with
India or anywhere and noticed online I was upgraded within 24 hours.

Confimation in the mail is promised within 14 days and then a further 7 days
to cancel.

Roger, I know from all your Orchid Dialler threads that youre using one
of these, so why not just use the Heinz Program

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?pc82492&postcount=1

or even if you dont want to run the full program, at least sign up for step
2 of Heinzs guide (ie, sign up to Primus - gives free evening and weekend
calls and easier than BT)

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1598074&postcount=4

Heinz makes it a mission to find the cheapest calling plans and keeps
everything up-to-date. No need to give yourself hassle trying to work round
BTs convoluted systems.

Thanks for the suggestion John, but I dont want to go down the CPS route -
so I still need to register for free BT evening calls.

Ah, right. Fair enough my friend. By coincidence, Ive just discovered that
Heinz has done a version of his 6 steps guide for people who specifically
dont want to sign up for CPS, so it may be worth a look for you, I dont
know. Anyway, youll find it here if you want it:

Thanks - yes, I saw that when I looked at the previous reference. All good
stuff - and a very useful sanity check, but I dont want to do *exactly*
what he does since VoIP is also part of my solution, and he explicity
doesnt take VoIP into account.

Following other peoples suggestions, I have now managed to sign up for free
BT evening calls by ringing the relevant 0800 number. Still seems odd that
the on-line tool doesnt work, though!
