How long should it take to replace a telgraph pole? Unfortunately some
vehicle has knocked down the telegraph pole which supplies only my friends
house with his line. Is there any way he can try to speed the process up?

Unfortunately, the pole is on the opposite side of the road; otherwise I
might have suggested a temporary measure ;-)

I think it depends on what safety measures are needed before the pole is
erected.

If the pole is on a main road, traffic management measues like temporary
lights must be arranged.

BT (I assume they own the pole) have a scheme were theyll divert your
incoming calls to another number, including mobile numbers, for no charge.
It might not speed up the process but it will lessen the inconvenience.

Unfortunately he doesnt really use it for telephone calls, just for ADSL

It took BT three days to replace the pole in my daughters garden, and they
diverted calls to her mobile FOC.
It took somewhat longer for her to get the electricity back which was also
on the same pole and caught by the overheight lorry.
elf & safety - they can no longer be on the same pole! The electricity now
comes from the other side of the road and I guess the cable is about a foot
lower than before.

Three days seems quite short to me, considering how long it now seems to
take them to come out to fix a simple fault: what did she do exactly, did
she kick up a hell of a fuss?

I take it that the ban on pole sharing isnt retrospective?
