I seem to remember a web site some time ago that gave length of line
from exchange for a given number.
Can anyone prompt my memory?

ISTR that a rough calculatuion may be based on the staight line
distance multiplied by 1.4

If thats true it must also be true for any two points: so to calculate the
road distance multply the straight line distance by 1.4?

On Dartmoor, multiply by 2.1 and add 1.3 if the water in the ford is
more than half way up the duck...

but the road distance may not be the route the cable serving you
takes - hence the 1.4 X striaght line distance - I think

I always thought there was something strange about Dartmoor, obviously
doesnt correspond to the normal laws of Euclidean Geometry..

It would be strange if it did, not by any means an expert here, but
observation has led me to believe that telephone cables usually follow
roads, hence those tall sticks which I am led to believe often carry the
telephone cables ;-)
