How can I legally hook something up to record my telephone conversations? Is
there a device I can buy? I am in the UK. The old style telephone pick up
coils I used to use dont work on modern phones because they dont have
transformers in them.

Unless I am mistaken (and I could be), it is illegal to record telephone
conversations in the UK. Or has this changed?

Its basically becoming illeagal to live in the UK. The objective
is to not piss anyone off enough that they feel the need to bust
you for anything.

AIUI it is legal to record your own calls. It is not legal to record a third
party call without the knowledge or consent of at least one of the parties
(not sure which of those is required.) - unless of course you have a
warrant...

You are mistaken. It has always been legal to record your own
telephone calls, whether or not the other party to the call knows that
youre recording them.

The critical bit being that the recording cannot be used as evidence in
court if the other party doesnt know they were recorded.

Thats good news. I was assuming Id have to warn the person I was talking
to that I was recording the conversation.
