Hi, folks! Looking for a little clarity with the subject like...

A neighbour of mine is looking at an internal re-wire (ISP to arrange
with Openreach) and would appreciate some insight (as would I) into
the correct method of replacing the old GPO spaghetti with something
more elegant and funtional.

This is the current arrangement (scuse my ASCII):

LJU1/3A (upstairs)
Dropwire /
from > Block Terminal > Jack Socket 95A > LJU1/1A
outside

The block terminal (8 screw terminals in a 90 * 45mm box) is attached
to a door frame. Unfortunately, this removes the possibility of a
straight swap (pair from dropwire straight into NTE5.) I know, not how
Id have done it ;)

As far as I recall, the existing block terminal should be replaced
with Block Terminal 78A/whichever and go via the shortest route into
an NTE5, the user side of which would then be fed back through the
78A and into the upstairs LJU as before (utilising part of the
existing wiring as necessary)

Is this correct, or can anyone in the know clue us in on the proper
method nowadays?

Cheers,

Neil

Why are your ISP arranging this? You should be asking your CP
(Communications Provider) to do this, as it is not ADSL related.

Unless, of course, the ISP supply the phone line.
